Church Leader Talks on Book of Mormon, Teachings in Interview with Media

Elder Kaku answers questions about the Church

Elder Anthony Kaku, an Area Seventy in the Africa West Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, spoke with Independent’s Omon Okhuevbie on the Book of Mormon, the teachings and doctrine of the Church and expatiated on his comments from the 2nd annual Nigeria Lagos Agega Stake Conference.

The conference involved over 1,100 Church members, pressmen and community members who listened to the stake and missionary choirs perform prior the commencement of the speakers. A stake is comprised of several smaller congregations, usually 5 to 12, and stake conference is held bi-annually.

In his address at the conference, Elder Anthony Kaku reemphasized the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, encouraged members to invite missionaries into their homes and reiterated that parents and leaders should support the rising generation.

At the end of the conference, Elder Kaku granted an interview to the media. Kaku was asked what advice he had for the citizens of Nigeria: “Everyone should be courageous; they should have courage in Jesus Christ. The Lord says I will be with you and whosoever trusts in the Lord, He will not fail. . . .”
