LDS Charities Donates Health Relief to Isale-Agbara

LDS Charities, the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints, in partnership with Isale-Agbara community, has provieded health relief to the dwellers of Isale-Agbara and neighboring communities of Osogbo South Osun State through the donation of medical equipment and renovation of Isale Agbara Primary Health Centre.

 

According to Dr. Onigbinde Oluwatoyin, the Medical Officer of Health and Secretary Oshogbo Local Government Primary Health Care Authority; the Comprehensive Health Centre was one of the best of its kind in Oshogbo about 10 years ago, but later became dilapidated due to lack of care and maintenance. LDS Charities came to the rescue.

”I am grateful for the support of the Church and LDS Charities in helping to facilitate the welfare of good people of Oshogbo," said Oluwatoyin. "I know the Health Centre will be well utilized and I promise that it will be well maintained.”

Dr Kayode Ogun, a doctor attached to the Health Facility pointed out, “Today the church has helped us with the needed equipment for proper maternal care in our primary health facility. I know this will be a blessing in many years to come to the people of this community”.

Pharmacist Mrs. Fashanu, the Deputy Secretary of Oshogbo Local Government Primary Health Care Development Authority, expressed her gratitude to LDS Charities and the entire church for their magnanimity.  She said, “What I like most about this project is that LDS Charities exceeded our expectations”.

The Chairman of Osogbo South Local Council Development Authority, Mr. Abdul Akeem Olaoye, was at the hand-over ceremony. He commended the church for placing great premium on the provision of good health care for all citizens around the LCDA.

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola in his speech appealed to corporate organizations, philanthropists and religious bodies to join hands with government to ensure healthy living for the people of the state.

President of the Ile-Ife Nigeria Stake, President Joseph Mba who represented LDS Charities at the ceremony said, "What we are doing is not about politics. We are concerned about humanity, we are concerned about how to reduce child mortality rate, how to reduce maternal mortality during pregnancy and delivery, and how to support government programs that have direct impact on human lives”.

“There is no better way to serve God that does not involve service to humanity and also to bring lost souls to Christ”, President Mba concluded.
